I want my work to speak to the spirit of equality. To build the thought of revolution, action and our capacity to be ever-changing. I want it to celebrate where we want to go and where we must go in order to transform. My hope is to engender doggedness, create an image of change and inspire a sense of resolve in humankind.
Nicole LaRue was born in Berkley, California. After earning her BFA from Brigham Young University her own adventures took her across the world from South Korea to Japan to Oregon and places even farther. She now lives and works in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Both a graphic designer and illustrator, LaRue is widely known for her iconic work on the Women’s March on Washington logo. She is the author, designer and illustrator of a number of books including Girl Almighty and Small & Mighty, interactive activist journals for kids. She has, most recently collaborated with human rights lawyer, Kate Kelly on a book titled Ordinary Equality, a brilliantly graphic story of the women and queer people of the ERA.
